.ua is the country-code top-level domain for Ukraine. As a Fulfillment TLD, registrations are handled through a manual process that may require trademark documentation, particularly for second-level domains.

Registration Restrictions

  • Second-level .ua registrations require a WIPO or Ukrainian trademark whose name matches the requested domain name exactly. Both companies and individuals must hold an identical trademark. For example, with the trademark "cooldrink" you can register cooldrink.ua but not cooldrink-online.ua.
  • The .ua registry accepts three types of documents: a WIPO trademark with designation to Ukraine, a Ukrainian trademark, or a licence agreement between the trademark holder and the licensee. Licence agreements must be registered with the Ukrainian Institute of Industrial Property.

Domain Transfer Details

Transfer Procedure

  • Obtain the authorisation code (authcode) from the current registrar. The authcode must be 6–16 characters long.
  • Initiate the transfer request providing the authcode along with the required owner, admin, tech and billing contacts and at least two nameservers.
  • If registering a second-level .ua domain, supply the trademark number (X-UA-TM-NUMBER) and the trademark creation date (X-UA-TM-DATE). These fields are not required for third-level domains.
  • The transfer completes after approximately 7 days.

  • After a successful transfer, the domain is automatically extended by 1 year.

  • .ua is a Fulfillment TLD. Registrations and updates are processed manually and may take longer than real-time operations.
