Registration Restrictions

  • Due to sanctions affecting Afghanistan, new registrations, transfers, explicit renewals, and restores cannot be processed.
  • Existing domains remain active as long as they are not expired.

Domain Transfer Details

Transfer Procedure

  • Transferring a .af domain requires an authorization code, obtainable from the current registrar.
  • A transfer without an authcode is also possible but must be confirmed by the losing registrar within 7 days.
  • Note that the transfer does not include a renewal and will not extend the expiration date, but a fee applies.

Transfer Notes

  • Existing domains under our management will not expire.
  • If you want a domain to expire, you will need to send an explicit delete command.

Authorization Codes

  • A .af domain transfer can be initiated with a so-called authorisation code, which can be obtained from the current registrar through the owner or Admin-C of the domain.
  • A .af domain transfer can also be initiated without authcode. The losing registrar has to confirm or reject the transfer of the domain within 7 days.
  • A special transfer fee will be charged. A transfer does NOT include a renewal and will NOT extend the expiration date.

WHOIS and domain management

  • WHOIS server: Open the registry WHOIS service
  • Renewal settings: Review the renewal mode and account balance for each domain in your account.
  • Privacy option: WHOIS privacy is available where registry policy permits it.

  • Deletion Timeframe: 2 days prior to expiration date.

  • Redemption Period: 28 days
