Domain Transfer Details
Transfer Procedure
-
A .nz domain transfer must be initiated with a so-called authorisation code (AUTH, always 16 characters), which can be obtained from the current registrar through the owner or Admin-C of the domain.
-
Please note that the AUTH changes automatically upon certain domain operations, like updates or transfer.
-
The AUTH will expire after 30 days, so you might need to request a new AUTH for existing domain names.
-
To start generating a new AUTH through the registry, send a ModifyDomain command.
-
To check the last set AUTH of an already deleted or expired domain, use the StatusDomainHistory command.
Transfer Notes
-
If a 3rd level equivalent of the domain name already exists, it is mandatory to use the AUTH of that domain to register the .nz domain name.
-
The resolved name can only be registered using details that match the registrant details used for the qualifying 3rd level domain name.
