Registration Restrictions

  • Configured name servers are required. The registry provides a zone check at https://registro.br/cgi-bin/nicbr/dnscheck
  • The Billing-Contact and Owner-Contact require local presence in Brazil. Use our trustee service or provide a Brazilian register number for the owner and a Brazilian contact for billing.
  • For a Brazilian contact, a two-letter state value is mandatory, e.g., Acre - AC, Alagoas - AL, etc.
  • To be eligible for ORG.BR registrations, organizations must prove they are non-governmental and not-for-profit. Trustee service cannot be used.
  • A domain may not be available for registration if it has participated in more than six consecutive release processes. Refer to the registry website for details.
  • Individuals are excluded from registering .esp.br and .far.br domain names. Only legal entities can register, and a CNPJ number is required. Trustee service can be used if needed.

Domain Transfer Details

Transfer Procedure

  • Initiate the .far.br domain transfer using the TransferDomain command with an action of REQUEST.
  • Complete the transfer form, notarize it, and send it to NIC.BR, as per the registry instructions.
  • The registry will then contact our trustee service provider to proceed with the transfer.

Transfer Notes

  • The online transfer form on NIC.BR’s website is only available in Portuguese.
  • The trustee validation process can take between one and three days.
  • The trustee service cannot be used for .BLOG.BR or ORG.BR domain names. Please provide alternate Brazil-based contacts.
  • To modify domain contacts, please note that modifications are not in real-time. Be aware of the delay.
  • There is no automated process for .far.br registrant changes. Contact us for manual procedures.
  • Domain deletion must be done through NIC.BR’s dedicated form, not via the API.
  • During domain registration with trustee service, the domain may receive an extension X-BR-CONCURRENT-APPLICATION with a value of 1 if there is an active concurrent application at the registry.
