Registration Restrictions

  • VAT or Tax ID required for local companies
  • A .kz domain name can be registered by any individual or company.
  • It is not allowed to register domains containing propaganda, narcotics, ethnic, and violent names and activities and those against the laws of Kazakhstan are prohibited.
  • Websites - or even a redirect server - must be hosted in Kazakhstan. If KazNIC finds a violation of this rule, they will contact the domain name owner and first block the domain name. If the violation is not corrected, the domain will be deleted within 10 days.

Domain Transfer Details

Transfer Procedure

  • A .kz domain transfer must be initiated with a so-called authorization code, which can be obtained from the current registrar and with the current contact details and name servers. The domain needs to be unlocked prior to transfer requests.

Transfer Notes

  • As .kz domains cannot be deleted explicitly. To delete a .kz domain you have to set the domain renewal mode or default renewal mode to AUTODELETE or AUTOEXPIRE.
  • Registrant changes for .kz domains can be done via API or web interface. The expiration date of the domain will not be changed. After the change of registrant has been requested at NIC, the current and the future holder of the domain name have to confirm the transaction.
