Registration Restrictions
- Registrant organization must be in the banking sector.
- The domain name must be related to the organization.
- Bank holding companies are not eligible as they do not fit the definition of a bank nor do they provide banking services. If the bank holding company believes they need to be listed in the registration, they can be listed as the admin contact.
- anycast.io nameservers must be used for .bank domains (e.g., ns1.bankname.bank)
- DNSSEC is required.
- Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting and Conformance (DMARC) is required.
- Encryption is required for web access, mail exchange, and file transfer.

Domain Transfer Details
Transfer Procedure
- A .bank domain transfer must be initiated with an auth-code and submitted to the registry.
- The registry notifies the losing registrar, which in turn informs the domain contacts about the transfer process.
Transfer Notes
- For a .bank domain transfer, an authorization code (auth-code) is required. This code must be obtained from the current registrar through the domain’s owner/admin contact.
- Ensure the domain is not locked with transfer-prohibited statuses. If there is a client-side lock, it can be removed by the current registrar.
